•	The //Inquirer// printed a story asserting that a representative of the New York Giants had approached second baseman [[Nap Lajoie]] with the offer of a three-year contract that would pay as much as $10,000 per year

•	The story added the Lajoie had turned down the deal, citing fair treatment by the Athletics
