•	Despite receiving an offer from Brooklyn, outfielder [[Dave Fultz]] said he planned to stay with the Athletics for the 1902 campaign

===== Injury Update =====

•	Coincidentally, Fultz had suffered a sprained ankle and twisted knee while participating in a game of (American) football for the Philadelphia pros against the Homestead team in Pittsburgh

•	Fultz said he was "done with football for good" and was expected to be ready to go for spring training in April
