•	In the first game, the A's scored five in the fifth and three more in the sixth to win, 11-9

•	In the second, Detroit catcher Al Shaw's misplay of a throw home allowed two A's to score, opening the floodgates for a 9-2 victory

•	A's catcher [[Doc Powers]] hurt himself sliding in the fifth inning of the opener and had to leave the game

•	[[Farmer Steelman]] took over behind the plate and played the second game, too
