American League Owners Meeting

At the second and final day of meetings in Chicago, the league announced each team would play a 140-game schedule with the specifics soon to be forthcoming. A rules committee was formed, consisting of Chicago's Charles Comiskey, Baltimore's John McGraw, and Philadelphia's Connie Mack. They instituted a player contract system that did not include a perpetual reserve system, but rather a set of three-, four-, or five-year options at the end of which a player would be a free agent. At the end of the final meeting, Mack boarded a train back to Philadelphia.
