American League president Ban Johnson said he was now planning for a ten-team league, but did not identify positively the additional three cities to those named on the 10th. The leading candidates were still Boston, Buffalo, and Indianapolis. In Philadelphia, Connie Mack had placed a deposit on the lease of two different sites: the old Athletics grounds at 26th and Jefferson, and a site on Lehigh Avenue.
